Manchester Emerging Substance Use Survey

Manchester City Council has commissioned Manchester Metropolitan University to undertake research to monitor emerging substance use trends. The University have developed a survey aimed at those who are working with people who use drugs in Manchester. The survey aims to gather up-to-date information on changing substance use trends. The findings will inform the Manchester Local Drug Information System and will provide recommendations to the Council regarding the development and delivery of services within Manchester for substance users. The identification of emerging trends will help to ensure that commissioners and service providers are best placed to understand local needs and the services required, and develop appropriate harm reduction advice, staff training and awareness raising. 

If you work with people who use drugs in Manchester, please take a few minutes to complete the survey which you can access via the link below. 


Your responses will be kept completely confidential with only the researchers seeing your responses. Whilst the survey requests your name, role, organisation and contact details, any responses used will be anonymised. No names or organisations will be attached to any responses with identifiers kept generic e.g. ‘Prison staff’ or ‘homeless outreach worker’. The details requested are for context and to enable the research team to follow-up survey responses if they want to find out more details e.g. through a one-to-one interview.
