Vehicle security

Help keep your vehicle safe by looking after your keys.

• Take the ignition keys out even when the vehicle is parked in your driveway or outside your house.

• If you need to keep your keys in the ignition to defrost your vehicle in the winter, stay inside the vehicle at all times. Thieves target vehicles in the morning during cold weather when they know that people leave their vehicle unattended.

• Always set the alarm or immobiliser if you have one, even if away from your vehicle for a short period of time such as filling up or paying at the petrol station or getting a car parking ticket.

• Do not leave your keys on display at home. Thieves are increasingly breaking into houses to steal car keys.
