What type of bike have you got?
Bikes build for the road
To ride a bike on the road it must be especially built
for road use. As the rider you have to be over 16 and you will
need:
- Registration documents
- MOT
- Road tax
- Insurance
- An approved crash helmet
If you have a motorbike built for road use and the items listed
above, you can ride it on the roads but NOWHERE ELSE
Off Road bikes
When we talk about “off-road bikes” we mean:
- Quadbikes
- Moto cross, trial and enduro bikes
- Electric scooters
- Buzzboards and go-peds
If you have an off-road motorbike, you cannot ride it around your neighbourhood
or in your local park. In fact, there are NO legitimate areas in Manchester
for you to ride your off-road bike.
Police Powers
If you ride a bike off-road in Manchester you run the risk of:
- Having your bike seized and crushed
- Paying a recovery fee of £105, plus a storage fee of £12 per day
- Getting an Anti Social Behaviour Order and the publicity that goes with
it.
- Being disqualified from driving
- Being imprisoned
- Causing serious injury to yourself or others
