DOMESTIC ABUSE

Domestic abuse ruins lives. Two women every week are murdered by their partner or ex partner. Research suggests that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lives, although the majority of those who are severely injured or killed are women. Survivors of domestic abuse suffer in many ways - their health may be affected, they may lose their home and they may find it difficult to work. Children living in homes where adults have an abusive relationship are at particular risk of emotional and psychological damage.

The Manchester Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership defines domestic abuse as any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse whether it is psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional between people who are or have been intimate partners or family members. All forms of domestic abuse are unacceptable; and we support all survivors, male and female, adult or child. Our objectives aim to improve services for everyone.
