Crimestoppers is an independent UK-wide
charity working to stop crime.
Operating across
the UK Crimestoppers helps identify, prevent, solve and reduce
crime.
This invaluable community service enables anyone with details
of criminal activity to pass it on anonymously, without fear
of exposure or retribution.
All it takes to pass
on information is one call to 0800 555 111.
- Every call is treated with absolute anonymity so that nobody
will know the identity of the caller, except you, the caller.
- Rewards are sometimes available which are paid without compromising
a caller’s anonymity.
Crimestoppers was set up in 1988 to break the wall of silence
that surrounds most crime and that criminals often exploit to
avoid arrest. The anonymous number provides a lifeline for people
who had information that they wanted to share but felt at risk
from retribution.
Since Crimestoppers began it has received over 809,550 calls
resulting in over 71,594 arrests and charges. Over £92 million
worth of property has also been recovered and over £127 million
worth of drugs.
The 0800 555 111 number ensures that no one
need ever know who you are when you call.
- You will not be asked your name
- Your call will not be traced or
recorded
- You do not have to give a statement
or go to court.
Furthermore;
- Crimestoppers do not have the facility to use 1471 to find
a phone number
- You can dial 141 before you call 0800
555 111 this way your phone number will be blocked
- Alternatively you could use a phone box – it’s anonymous
and it’s free!
