NEIGHBOURHOOD PARTNERSHIPS

Neighbourhood Partnerships
The Manchester Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership is making the city an even safer place to live, work and enjoy. A lot of work has already been done to lower crime across the wards, but ongoing work on a local level is important in tackling new problems and maintaining the good work already done.

Every ward across Manchester has its own Neighbourhood Partnership. The groups are committed to working together to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in your area. The Neighbourhood Partnership meets regularly to share information and discuss new initiatives to ensure that all agencies are working together to make Manchester safer.

WHO IS INVOLVED IN NEIGHBOURHOOD PARTNERSHIPS

  • Your Area Policing Team (Meetings are chaired by your Area Inspector)
  • Local Councillors
  • Invited tenants and residents associations
  • Local Housing Services, Social Landlords and Private Sector Housing
  • City Council Street Environmental Managers
  • Local City Council Community Safety Co-ordinator
  • City Council Education, Youth Service and Children, Families and Social Care
  • Community and faith leaders,

What do they do?
Neighbourhood Partnerships
deal with local issues such as:

  • Crime and disorder
  • Poor environment which contributes to crime
  • Domestic violence
  • Racist and hate crime
  • Youth nuisance
  • Neighbourhood nuisance
  • Anti-social behaviour

The Neighbourhood Partnerships are structured so that crime and disorder issues raised by residents and Councillors are then fed back to be dealt with at the highest possible level. Local residents can rest assured that their issues are dealt with by the best person within the group. If necessary, actions from these meetings are then taken forward to confidential Local Tasking Meetings and Area Casework Panels. Successes include securing Dispersal Orders and Alcohol Restriction Zones, improving lighting and alley gating in communities and sourcing funds for new facilities to reduce anti-social behaviour.

Get Involved
Your Neighbourhood Partnership encourages all residents to report all crimes and not tolerate crime and anti-social behaviour. If there is a problem in your area that you are concerned about, the police can only act if they are given as much information as possible. Only then can they target resources to solve the problem.

If you would prefer not to call the police, please call Crimestoppers to give information anonymously, tel: 0800 555 111.
