Welcome to Making Manchester Safer

Manchester City Council and Greater Manchester Police have launched the "Think Lock" campaign to combat burglary across the city.

The campaign aims to remind residents of the practical steps they can take to stop theives targeting their homes.

Residents in target areas will receive a Think Lock door hanger, containing crime prevention advice, and a window sticker to act as a visible deterrent to thieves.

Our community safety teams will also be visiting residents face to face to offer crime prevention advice.

One in three burglaries happen because a door or window is left unlocked.

  • Remember to always lock and shut your windows & doors – and make sure your home is secure while you are at home.
  • Use a timer and leave a light and radio on when you go out.
  • Never leave valuables on show.
  • Fit a burglar alarm and remember to use it.
  • Don’t let cold callers into your home.

Do not be in a rush to lose your possessions – Think Lock.
